re: FIX for strategies
Jim Northey / Chicago Board Options Exchange 17 Apr 2000 12:57PM ETThe draft on strategies has been fully incorporated into the FIX 4.2 document as security definition / security definition request messages. Refer to Appendix I.
Regarding the previous question on strategy execution, it is not explicitly stated, however the perspective is that an options strategy, once defined, trade atomically, so that the order status of the strategy is the order status of each leg. Execution Reporting can be done by strategy and/or leg. This capability gives rise to the potential of reporting a different order status by leg.
However, if the product is trading atomically (all
legs are executed before before a fill or partial-fill is reported) - it does not make sense to have a different order status by leg.
Lastly, The Futures & Options Working Group is currently not operating - that is why the link is no longer available. I believe we should consider starting it up again, as it appears many firms are in the midst of dealing with futures and options.
Regards,
Jim Northey
