Prometric Certification ?
Mahesh Kumaraguru <> 23 Jan 2007 11:51AM ETHi Sunil,
The FIX certification for firms is an "application certification" to say that the firm's FIX interface is FIX compliant.
You are looking for a Prometric certification something like "Certified FIX analyst" or "Certified FIX developer" or "Certified FIX tester" or whatever else is your line of interest. Presently there is no such thing. There is a "Global Education & Marketing Committee" at
http://fixprotocol.org/committees/gemc
Hi Global Education & Marketing Committee members,
Probably, prometric certifications for FIX would help new candidates enter the FIX world and also help FIX employers find new FIX candidates. I have some friends who have learnt basics of FIX out of their interest / in their spare time and are interested to find a FIX job, but do not get interview calls when they place their resume asking for a FIX position because their resume does not have any FIX in it and their present work experience is not on FIX.
Providing Prometric certifications in FIX would help growth of FIX.
I moved from Cobol-DB2-CICS to Java after I completed Sun Certified Java Programmer prometric certification in Aug-2001, Sun Microsystems gave me a way to prove my Java programming skills.
Regards,
Mahesh
