Delta Operator

Hello,
Let suppose the 'delta value' in the stream is not NULL.
I'm aware that the value of the field is obtained by combining the 'delta value' with a 'base value'.

However in the handbook there is no specification on how to deal with the previous value.

I would like to understand if the value of the field also becomes the new previous value, as for the Increment operator for example.
