Re: FIX/FAST is approaching its end?
Niall Gallagher / SDP 6 Jun 2012 3:24AM ET Hi,
If FAST is comming to an end, is there a reason why? I noticed the following article on the issue.
http://low-latency.com/blog/speed-bumps-ahead-fast
Should I be worried about this? Does this mean that it is not reasonable to adopt FAST for any future projects? Are there alternatives for FIX streaming out there if so?
Thanks,
Niall

The OPRA connected exchanges are eliminating FIX/FAST entirely by the end of this year. Given the increased availability of bandwidth as well as high speed connections such as co-location, compression has become less critical. In the short term, we are removing certain field operators (copy, default, delta and increment) from our data feed. In the longer term, CME Group continues to evaluate a next generation market data protocol.
