Hi Members@FIXProtocol.org,

Any thoughts on using Reliable User Datagram Protocol (RUDP) for FIX transport?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reliable_User_Datagram_Protocol

My search for Reliable User Data Protocol on http://fixprotocol.org did not yeild any results, neither any results in site_search@google.com

http://www.google.com/search?q=RUDP+site%3Afixprotocol.org

But there thas been lots of discussions in http://fixprotocol.org on disavantages of UDP for FIX. site_search@google.com

http://www.google.com/search?q=UDP+site%3Afixprotocol.org

yeilded 39 results. I understand that FIX Adapted for STreaming Market Data(FAST) can use UDP as a transport : Reference :-

http://fixprotocol.org/documents/2801/FIX%20Adapted%20for%20STreaming%20-%20FAST%20Protocol.pdf

I think RUDP can be considered as an alternate transport for FIX Orders & Executions (the traditional TCP zone). Gap analysis is needed between TCP and RUDP to see what needs to be added / enhanced in FIX to use it over RUDP.
