It depends upon what aspect of the corporate action you are trying to express.

At the OCC, we use the SecDefUpd message to express product level changes as a result of a corporate action. For example symbol ABC is being deactivated as a result of a merger and DEF is being activated.

We use the SecListUpd message to express series level changes as a result of a corporate action. For example, old strike of 40 is deactiviated and new strike of 20 is activated as a result of a stock split.

Finally, we use the AdjPosRpt to express position changes as a result of corporate actions.
