Re: Fiximate Message Type for Corporate Action
Matthew Wolfe / The Options Clearing Corp. 21 Feb 2007 5:47PM ETIt depends upon what aspect of the corporate action you are trying to express.
At the OCC, we use the SecDefUpd message to express product level changes as a result of a corporate action. For example symbol ABC is being deactivated as a result of a merger and DEF is being activated.
We use the SecListUpd message to express series level changes as a result of a corporate action. For example, old strike of 40 is deactiviated and new strike of 20 is activated as a result of a stock split.
Finally, we use the AdjPosRpt to express position changes as a result of corporate actions.
You could reference our developer reference guides on http://www.theocc.com/products/dds_ref_materials.jsp for specific implementation details and examples.
