Wealth Management: Creating a Standardized Solution

Innovation in electronic trading has created increased efficiency and choices for institutional investors and hedge funds yet have largely left retail and individual investors behind. The migration of money to Registered Investment Advisors (RIA's) is highlighting the need for the more rapid development of a standards based solution. In addition, the recent cost basis legislation and other regulatory changes are causing a resurgence of wealth management participants to demonstrate significant interest in the use of FIX.

FIX: Using the Repository

FPL recently released the 2010 edition of the FIX Repository which offers data quality improvements and a re-factoring of the data format.

The FIX Repository is a computer readable definition of FIX messages, fields, components, and enumerations that make up the protocol. It is used to generate the table sections of the FIX Specification, FIXimate web viewer, and the FIXML Schema.

In this session the FIX Repository will be presented along with a demonstration of simple ways you can use the FIX Repository. Allowing your firm to join the already large number of organizations and vendors who have improved the automation of FIX implementations within their organizations using this tool.

FIX.5.0 and FIXT.1.1: The Time is Now

Since the introduction of FIX.5.0 and FIXT.1.1 improvements have been made that greatly expand FIX functionality to include additional business processes and a multitude of new capabilities within the existing business process areas. This has included the release of the first service pack for the application layer, FIX.5.0SP1, and an errata to FIXT.1.1 was issued as a further enhancement.

Since inception the iterations have now been successfully implemented within multiple markets. This interactive session will provide an insight into the benefits of FIX.5.0 and FIXT.1.1 provide implementation guidance and best practice recommendations.

FIXatdl allows new algorithmic trading strategy providers to release their specifications in the industry standard, computer readable XML format as opposed to the traditional method of supplying detailed documentation, considerable coding and testing.
