Luis Acevedo

Mr. Acevedo graduated in Business Administration from the University of Americas UDLA (Former Mexico City College), he also studied a masters degree in Finance. He has taken and taught several Courses and Seminars in México and abroad, specialized in Financial Derivatives.

With more than 15 years of experience in the Financial Sector, he is currently the Chief Operating Officer of MexDer (Mexican Derivatives Exchange).
Previously, he was a Fixed Income cash and derivatives trader for Chase Manhattan Bank Mexico.

Mr. Acevedo has participated as a guest speaker in several national and international forums related with derivatives since 1996, such as: Latin Finance, AOMF Mexican Financial Traders Association and GL Forum (London), Latin America Panels in Brazil and Colombia, among others.

Adolfo Aldama , Vice President, head Mexico IB Technology at J.P. Morgan Mexico. Prior to this, Adolfo worked in 2006 for Merrill Lynch as head of Technology in Mexico and from 2003 to 2006 as Information Technology Director at Azteca America. From 1996 to 2002 Adolfo worked for J.P. Morgan in several positions in different offices including New York, Delaware, Sao Paulo and Mexico. Adolfo, a Mexican national, completed the Computer Science graduate program at La Salle University and has an MBA degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México. Adolfo is a certified Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute.

Mr. Alegría graduated in Finance from the ITAM (Mexican Autonomous Technological Institute). He has taken and taught several advanced Courses and Seminars in México and abroad, specialized in Capital Markets and Financial Derivatives.

With more than 24 years of experience in the Financial Sector, he is currently the Chief Executive Officer of MexDer (Mexican Derivatives Exchange) and he has recently been appointed as Senior Vice President of Markets and Data Services of the Mexican Stock Exchange. Previously, he was CEO of ABN AMRO Securities (Mexico) and Executive Vice President at Scotiabank Inverlat.

He has also served as Member of the Board and performed different positions related to the  Financial Markets at important Mexican corporations such as: AMIB (Mexican Brokers Association), ASIGNA (Clearing House), Impulsora del Fondo México (Mutual Fund), and the Mexican Stock Exchange.

Mr. Alegria has participated as a guest speaker in several national and international forums related with financial markets and derivatives since 1989, such as: Institute for International Research, Euromoney, Institutional Investor, Futures Industry Association, International Options Markets Association, FIA/FOA (London), World Exchange Congress (Dubai), FOW (London), Hedge Funds World Conference and Latin Finance among others.

Currently, he is also a professor at the ITAM, where he imparts the subject of Derivatives in Mexico and he serves as Chairman-elect of the International Options Markets Association (IOMA).

Alice Botis is head of Latin American Business Development and Enterprise sales for Fidessa with responsibility for expanding the company's presence across the Americas and growing new business.
Alice has been with Fidessa for eight years. Her past roles have included sales for the Hosted and Enterprise divisions as well as account management.

Prior to moving into this role at Fidessa, Alice was a VP at Citigroup for 10 years where she traded NASDAQ securities. She also worked was a MD in transaction services for NASDAQ.

Alice is a member of Securities Traders Association of New York and participates in many other financial industry groups.

Hector Casavantes has over 15 years of experience in technology and stock markets trading. He has been Director of Electronic Trading Services division of Finamex Casa de Bolsa (VAFIN) for the last 4 years. Prior to joining Finamex, Hector spent 8 years at the Mexican Stock Exchange group, where he held roles in telecommunications and software development before becoming head of Technological Infrastructure. Hector began his career at Banco Santander where he spent 3 years doing diverse technology projects for the funds division. He is BS in electronic engineering from the Tecnologico de Monterrey (México) and MBA from IPADE Business School.

 

Marcio Castro
Co-Chair FPL Latin America Subcommittee, IT Officer, Trading Systems, BM&FBOVESPA

Marcio Augusto de Castro, 42, is IT Officer – Trading Systems and Post-Trading Systems and Market Data at BM&FBOVESPA, responsible for the matching engines MegaBolsa and GTS, as well as the Gateways for DMA, Order Entry and Market Data for the Exchange, and the post-trading systems, including depository, clearing & settlement and CCP. In his role, Marcio is heavily involved in FIX either for support and evolve the Exchange´s systems as well as the market participants: brokers, ISVs, DMA Providers, Market Data vendors and the buy-side. Prior to BM&FBOVESPA, Marcio was the Professional Services Director at SunGard Treasury Systems for Asia Pacific region (2002), Head of Strategic Development at the ADX – Australian Derivatives Exchange (2000) and Principal System Engineer at IBM Brazil (1998).

Marcio is a graduate in Software Engineering (FASP) and Business Administration (FGV).

Mario Chuman
Managing Director, CMA

CMA is the leading financial services technology provider of Latin American markets with over 35 years of service, headquartered in Sao Paulo Brazil. Along with the support of CMA’s 20,000 deployed terminals of over 100 global exchanges, Mario's responsibility are also to oversee the operations and business units in the US, Canada and Mexico. Mario has over 20 years of experiencing implementing CMA’s market data, trading applications including order management, order routing/execution, algorithmic platforms and communication services.

Mario joined CMA as its network communications manager responsible for consolidation and distribution of CMA's global market data, then began to initialize and support CMA’s trading application and connectivity business, primarily utilizing the FIX protocol with CMA clients and their execution venues and counter parties most of which required FIX expertise.

Prior to joining CMA, Mario was project manager for Honeywell technologies, developing and designing electronic communication systems for commercial use.

Mario is an Electronic Engineer graduate of the Ricardo Palma University in Lima, Peru and has an MBA from the Pacific University of Peru.

Drey Dias

Drey has been with Bloomberg for over eight years and directly involved with Trading Systems for the last two and a half years. He has worked with Bloomberg in Brazil, Mexico and New York managing terminal sales and joined the new division to focus on electronic trading and OMS solutions for all of Latin America. Most recently, he has been involved with SSEOMS implementations at two key regional brokers –one being in Mexico and also with multiple banks and asset managers discussing integrations and automation of workflow.

Courtney Doyle McGuinn

Courtney Doyle McGuinn is the Operations Director of FIX Protocol Ltd. (FPL) leveraging her unique understanding of FPL’s operational and strategic needs and ensuring the continual growth of the FPL organization and the FIX Protocol.  Courtney has been a dedicated FPL resource for nearly 8 years providing continued support and significant leadership. 

Prior to this role, Courtney was involved in various engagements for Jordan & Jordan which have included conducting comprehensive market research to uncover opportunities in the financial marketplace and assisting in the selection of suitable technology solutions.  She was also a lead trainer during a nationwide rollout of a market data application, demonstrating and assisting new users on the system.  As a member of a development team, Courtney assisted in creating a service web site providing clients with market data information. 

Courtney holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers College.

Amilcar Elorza
COO, Asigna

Amílcar Elorza has over 20 years of experience in the Mexican Financial System, and is Co-Founder of Asigna, the Clearing House of the Mexican Derivatives Market (MexDer). Currently he is Head of Operations for the Clearing House and is co-responsible for the administration of the Clearing House businesses.

Since joining Asigna over ten years ago, Mr. Elorza has been involved in almost all phases of the Mexican derivatives market growth and been responsible for the electronic clearing systems for the derivatives business, as well as the Clearing Members’ back office integration. His responsibilities among others, currently include developing a secure communications protocol between Clearing Members and Clearing House, furthering the use of the FIXML given that it will facilitate Asigna to consider cross margin with other clearing houses.

Recently MexDer and Asigna launched an Interest Rate Swap Futures Contract with physical delivery. The delivered swap administration was developed by Elorza for Asigna. The swap is marked to market and margined. Coupons are periodically settled through the clearing house.

 

Spiros Giannaros

Spiros Giannaros joined Charles River in 1999 as the firm emerged as a leader of compliance and order management solutions. Giannaros has been responsible to establishing a sales team, expanding global operations, and launching new products and service offerings. In his current capacity, Giannaros is responsible for revenue and operations in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition, Giannaros chairs several product steering committees related to strategic initiatives. Prior to Charles River, Giannaros worked in product specialist and sales roles in the investment software division of Thomson Financial. Giannaros holds a BS in finance and marketing from Boston College.

With a 25 year career in the Mexican Equity Market, Mr Guillén Lara has directed Research and Sales areas, as well as equity trading desks and structured products efforts at Interacciones, Invex and Deutsche Bank. In 1998, First Call places his research team reports as “the most read by institutional clients” and describes him as the “best analyst” in the Telecommunications sector in Latin-America.

Currently he is head of the Transactional Services Direction at the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) where he is designing new trading alternatives, promoting new products and services and controlling the Cash Market operations. He recently led, along with the Mexican Securities Exchange Commission (CNBV) and the Mexican Broker Dealers Association (AMIB), the implementation of new ways to access and trade the Mexican Equity Market under global standards.

Kevin Houstoun
Co-Chair FPL Global Technical Committee, Chairman and Founder, Rapid Addition

Kevin has over 20 years financial services industry experience and has initiated and implemented electronic trading technologies first at Robert Fleming Asset Management and then at Solomon Brothers.

Utilising his unique understanding and knowledge, Kevin has co-authored one of the world’s most performant FIX engines with his company Rapid Addition Limited, Rapid Addition specialise in product innovation in the FIX marketplace, offers a range of high performance FIX engines and tools which are used to advance the trading capabilities of firms globally. RA's clients currently include leading Stock Exchanges, buy-side and sell-side firms specialising in FIX.

Kevin is also currently Co-Chair of the FPL Global Technical committee and has been intimately involved in the technical development of FIX for over 10 years.

Rapid Addition recently launched www.electronicdealing.com, a free vault and editor for the production of FIX ATDL files, RA did this because it believes consistency of implementation of these files is critical to the success of FIX ATDL.

 

Kurt Huhner
Business Development - Americas, Enterprise, Fidessa

Kurt Huhner is currently responsible for Enterprise Business Development in the Americas.  In this role, he works with new and existing clients in helping develop new opportunities for the Fidessa product suite within large-scale global Enterprise clients.

For the past 10 years at Fidessa, Kurt has worked with numerous Fidessa clients as well as third party vendors in the financial services industry. His roles have included Senior Client Project Manager, Trader Support Specialist and Business Development.   He has an extensive knowledge of equities, options and advanced trading tools including algorithms, baskets and pairs.  Prior to Fidessa, Kurt worked in the financial services and aerospace industry where he developed a strong technical background as a developer, technical architect and project manager.

Kurt holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science and currently resides in New York City.

George Kledaras
Chairman, FIX Flyer

George Kledaras is a leader in developing financial software for instantaneous global trading anywhere, anytime, and most importantly, by everyone. He is the founder of FIX Flyer, a new technology company in New York City. He is also the author of numerous articles about electronic trading standards, and a frequent speaker on the major technology issues of our time.

Kledaras started FIX Flyer in 2004 to re-invent low latency electronic trading infrastructure. In addition, he created new search based technology for core reporting including historical and real time trade, risk, commission management and monitoring for exchanges, ECNs and brokers.

He is well known throughout the technology world as the founder, in 1996, of Javelin Technologies Inc. At Javelin, he was recognized as the leader in electronic trading software, especially through his initiative in creating the first high-speed messaging FIX engine built entirely in Java called Coppelia.

Then, in 2000, he helped to ignite the world of high-speed global trading with Appia. Javelin was sold in 2002 to NYFIX and now owned by NYSE Technologies.
Kledaras received a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, and an MS degree in Mathematics from the Courant Institute at New York University. He is frequent lecturer on entrepreneurship.

With over 13 years of experience in the trading technology space, Alex Lamb is SVP Business Development and Marketing for RTS Realtime Systems Inc., and a Board Member with global responsibility for developing the company’s commercial and exchange relationships. Before this, he was an independent consultant in the area of front, middle and back office systems for trading and brokerage firms.

Lamb has had senior management roles at 2 other major independent software vendors, as well as leading development of a high performance multi market trading and risk management system at a trading company. Prior to the time in technology, he was involved in commodity trading and clearing, helping establishing LIFFE, trading money markets, FX, exchange traded options and developing OTC derivative trading in the international financial markets.

Laurence Latimer
SVP & Managing Director, Trading & Client Connectivity – Americas, SunGard  

Laurence G. Latimer is accountable for SunGard’s global trading (GT) trading & client connectivity - Americas (TCC-A) business. SunGard GT TCC-A provides low-latent trading and risk management solutions for listed equity, equity options and derivatives across North and South America, and maintains a leading position in Brazil where GT has had customers for over 10 years.

During his tenure at SunGard, Laurence has been a principle in defining and building Trading’s execution services solutions and led the team that launched SunGard’s ATS. Laurence has deep experience at driving operational improvements across the trading value chain and monetizing new business opportunities domestically and internationally.

Prior to joining SunGard, Laurence was a consultant with McKinsey & Company where he focused on operational excellence and strategy for telecommunications and financial services companies.  He has an MPA from Princeton University and a BA from The Ohio State University.

Born and raised in Mexico City.
Economist for the ITAM and with a Master degree in Finance.
8 Years at Banco Santander, of which 6 have been in the Derivatives area.

Before entering Santander, I worked as an Analyst for a Consulting Group specialized in Financial Risk where I applied Economic analysis to create valuation models.

After a couple of years, I became the Head of Economic Research for a Lobbying Firm, focusing mainly in Energy Programs for the Mexican government, specifically Oil, Gas and Electricity.

Once at Santander I helped develop the Collateral Management Desk and some Valuation Models for the Asset Management department, introducing a number of variables that would help determine benchmarks and possible new investment areas.

Finally in the Derivatives area, we created the Third Party Execution Desk and Clearing Member, that would place Banco Santander as the No.1 firm in the MexDer in terms of Executed and Cleared Contracts, as well as the Mexican Clearing Firm with the largest presence outside Mexico and with the largest number of offered markets and products in the ETD’s business.

Mr. Chava has over 15 years experience in emerging capital markets, with emphasis on electronic trading in and out of Latin America. Mr. Chava started his career in Mexico City with Accival (Banamex Citibank Brokerage House) on the prop arbitrage desk. After his masters degree in financial markets in Spain he became a Sales Executive Trader at Instinet in 1997, where he was part of the ADR team. Co-Founder and Chief Operating officer of MultiTrade Securities LLC from 2000 - 2007 which was a minority owned BD specialized in Latin America. Mr. Chava is the former Chief Operating Officer of Marco Polo Latin America.

Timo Pentner manages the Americas business for RTS Realtime Systems.  His responsibilities include Sales, Account and Solutions Management, IT Ops and software development.   He is an expert in international clearing and risk management procedures for financial (derivative and cash) markets.
Mr Pentner has experience of Project Management for global financial institutions including the design and deployment of cross border/continent trading architectures complying to the highest standards of low latency and high frequency trading, and the integration of algorithmic OMS and FIX trading engines into existing trading infrastructures.
He also has experience of Product Management for electronic trading platforms connecting to all US based exchanges (and approx 100 exchanges worldwide).

His Special Projects include:
- Coordinating the roll out of new exchange trading front end (RTD & eRTD) to the Mexican market place together with MexDer.
- Internalization of order flow for global financial institutions for exchange and off exchange traded products.
- Multi-market access through various datacenters utilizing exchanges collocation facilities in various markets/countries.

Sebastian Rey is Electronic Sales Director for GBM, a leading company in the Mexican financial market with subsidiaries in Mexico, Brazil, and the US. He is responsible for developing and giving follow-up to relations with clients in search of electronic execution.  Likweise, he is closely involved in the design of the internal architecture in terms of OMS and algorithms.
Since graduating as an Industrial Engineer from Universidad Iberiamericana in 2002, he has worked in the financial industry. He has continued his education and participated in international events related to financial and market technology.

Brian Ross is an industry leader in the development of financial databases, trading systems, and reporting tools. Ross has over 20 years of experience at leading software firms, spearheading technology projects for Wall Street and NASA and speaking frequently at industry events.

After graduating from the University of Oregon, Ross began his technology career at NASA where he led development of mission critical software and systems for the Galileo, Voyager and Hubble space missions. Ross received three NASA accommodations for his leadership in developing software systems.

In 1995, Ross took his engineering and technology skills to Wall Street where he joined Blackrock, a leading fixed income money manager. Ross developed and managed the database systems for Aladdin, the Blackrock Trading System.

In 1997, Blackrock bought a majority stake in Trepp LLC and appointed Ross Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer. Under Ross's leadership, Trepp became the leading provider of CMBS and commercial mortgage information, analytics and technology to the securities and investment management community.
Brian is now Chief Executive Officer of FIX Flyer. Ross has graduate degrees in management and computer science from the Claremont Graduate School and Johns Hopkins University. He has also completed graduate studies in mathematics from the Courant Institute at New York University.

Philippe Thomas

Philippe Thomas is the Managing Director  ULLINK Americas, and Global Sales Director of Ullink.

Ullink is an independent provider of comprehensive low latency connectivity and Trading solutions with 6 offices World Wide. Philippe Thomas has been involved in Ullink since its creation in 2001 and grew the business from 0 to 30 Millions USD.
Prior to Ullink, Mr Thomas held management position for 6 years at Sungard in Belgium and in Australia. Prior to Sungard, Mr Thomas worked at The NYSE Euronext Exchange as a market controller.

Mr Thomas is the original designer of UL AMS, a fully managed platform that creates FixAtdl files from a simple web interface to create algos, publish in different versions and test the rendering with validation rules. UL AMS has encountered a growing success in the USA, facilitating the life of Brokers who want to publish their algos quicker and more efficiently to the buy side community.

Dan Watkins – Global, Business Development and Marketing Manager for CMA looks after the message communications, product, services, business development and trading relationships between US and European financial markets and the CMA client base in Latin America including exchanges, brokers/dealers, banks which account for 20,000+ licensed deployed workstations. His responsibilities also include the dissemination of market information and news regarding trading and market data of Latin American exchanges, while promoting new business to entrants and investors into the market place.

Dan has over 10 years experience in high-speed network based trading involving FIX and market data as the business manager of the MCI Money Line Telerate team, the MCI Nasdaq team, the MCI Financial Extranet team, the Director of Provider Development at BT Radianz where he implemented and oversaw Financial Service participant growth of over 35 derivatives exchange communities. Dan now looks after business development and marketing for CMA in New York bringing a variety of experience in how connectivity in the FIX world can peer with the proprietary and FIX enabled systems of the Brazilian, Mexican, Chilean, Colombian and other Latin American exchange communities for both Southbound – to Latin America and Northbound – to North America and Europe, trading.

 

Daniel Yu

Daniel Yu is responsible for North and South American sales and relationship management at RealTick®.

Mr. Yu joined Townsend Analytics in 2009, bringing over 17 years of experience in electronic trading to his role. Prior to joining Townsend, Mr. Yu held a number of senior positions at Lava Trading, where his responsibilities included managing the sponsoring broker program and business development for the ECN and smart order router. Mr. Yu started his career as a sales trader at Instinet, moving on to head trader at The Griswold Co. and Puglisi & Co.  He is active with several non-profit organizations including The Ronald McDonald House of New York and Dress for Success. He has a BBA and MBA from the University of Notre Dame.

Mr. Zevada has over 19 years of experience in Equity Markets.

He started his career as a trader in the name of Acciones y Valores Banamex (Accival), at the Equity Trading Floor and today he is Head of institutional Sales at the same institution. He is currently responsible for local & international Institutional Sales for Equities

Mr. Zevada has been a main player of “Block Trades” operations in the local Equity Market.

In addition Mr. Zevada has been in charge of the development of the first OMS and Algo Trading system for Accival.

Finally Mr. Zevada's work and leadership has helped propel Accival into excellent placements among the best brokerage firms in Mexico. Among other standings are: first place in Equity Market participation, during all these years.
