FIX Global Technical Committee – 2004 Accomplishments

 

Q1 2004:

  • FIXML Schema 4.4 released (XML Schema with enhancements to reduce size of resulting XML messages)
  • FIX Website re-vamp project started
  • FPL Certification Program commences
  • FIX-FpML Collaboration Working Group formed

 

Q2 2004:

  • Initial presentation of FIX Repository to the GTC
  • Reviewed (and declined) “XML Center at the CUNY” proposal

 

Q3 2004:

  • New website beta testing by GTC
  • Began discussions concerning collaboration with TWIST (twiststandards.org)
  • Certification Program advances—vendors selected and test scripts distributed
  • Market Data Optimization Working Group reports progress of 35% to 60% message size reduction using “implicit tagging”
  • Algorithmic Trading and DMA Working Group formed
  • FIX Repository, a database representation of the FIX Protocol specification, released
  • New, revamped FIX website launched on September 3, 2004

 

Q4 2004:

  • Detailed review of FIA Extensions 1.0—joint proposal by GDC and Futures Industry Association’s technology committee to add functionality to the security definition and update messages as well as a couple of changes to the positions messages in order to support contrary intentions and position updates
  • Detailed review of FIA Extensions 1.1—joint proposal by GDC and Futures Industry Association’s technology committee to enhance the allocation and trade capture messages for listed derivatives clearing
  • Provided recommendation to support the requirements for SEC Reg-SHO (the need to provide the identify of the locate broker on short sales)
  • Foreign Exchange Working Group launches four streams of work: 1) Orders, Executions, Allocations, and Confirmations, 2) Streaming Quotes,  3) Forex Swaps,  4) Non-Deliverable Forwards (NDFs)
  • Market Data Optimization Working Group announces plans to broaden member participation

  • Dean Kauffman of TradeWeb resigns as GTC Co-chair
  • Kevin Houstoun of CitiGroup elected as GTC Co-chair
