He began his City career in the Treasury Division of Morgan Grenfell, where he spent time in London and Singapore. He moved into the equities markets in 1984, when as a market maker for Morgan Grenfell he helped establish the FTSE 100 Index Options on the London Traded Options Market. Since then Alasdair has spent time working in the global securities industry as a Vice–President for Bankers Trust, where he set up the short term UK equity derivatives business and as a Director of Union Bank of Switzerland Securities, where he was responsible for European listed derivatives living in both London and Paris. Alasdair joined HSBC James Capel in 1996 as Director and Head of Global Equity Derivatives. Since 1998, Alasdair has spearheaded the establishment of ITG in Europe and been responsible for the successful launch of POSIT – Europe’s largest intraday equities crossing system and first regulated ATS.
