E. John Fildes is the Managing Director of Instinet Pacific, responsible for all the operations of Instinet in non-Japan Asia. Prior to this he was with Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong for 10 years where he held positions as the Head of Equity Marketing and Head of Electronic and Program Trading for the Institutional Equity Division in Asia-Pacific. Before that he was the Head of MSCI for Asia Pacific and was actively involved in the launch of MSCI futures contracts for Taiwan and Singapore on SIMEX. He also represents Instinet on the Asia Pacific FIX (Financial Information Exchange Protocol) Steering Committee and is active in promoting the protocol throughout the region. He has been a member of the Steering Committee since 2000. He has written and spoken extensively on the subject of FIX and Electronic Trading.
