What does FPL Membership Offer?

FPL is an industry initiative that benefits from the participation of more than 200 firms from across the global financial services sector. Representatives from these firms work together in a collaborative manner to improve the global trading process by developing and promoting the increased usage of the FIX Protocol as an enabler for electronic trading, to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of the industry. As members of FPL these firms benefit from the following advantages:

The Ability to Influence the Future Direction of the FIX suite of Standards
All employees from member firms are free to participate in the many committees and working groups active throughout the organization which work to help develop, promote and enhance electronic trading practices and the FIX Protocol suite of standards.

Through participation in these committees members interact with industry experts, peers, competitors and clients, and in doing so are able to develop a stronger understanding of FIX-related technical, implementation and business issues affecting their firm and their clients. They are also able to influence the future direction of the protocol to ensure it continues to meet the evolving needs of the industry. Additionally, member firms can guide the direction of FPL by leading or participating in the election of the organization's leaders.

The groups open to member participation include the EMEA, Americas, Asia Pacific and Japanese regional committees, the Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and Derivatives product committees, the Global Exchanges and Markets Committee, the Global Technical committee and the Global Education and Marketing Committee. Additionally, a number of groups focus on specific initiatives important to the future development of the industry such as the Algorithmic Trading and Market Data Optimisation working groups.

Access to FPL Member Only Documentation
FPL member firms are granted complimentary access to valuable tools and industry best practices. This includes access to member-only areas of the fixprotocol.org website which details early information on emerging initiatives and the 'FPL Member Directory' which details appropriate contact information for all FPL member participants.

Increased Marketing Opportunities
Member firms are able to visually demonstrate their commitment to the FIX Protocol by promoting their firm's FIX capabilities and usage through preferential placement on the 'Who uses FIX' section or the FIX Products and Vendors directory, located on the FPL website.

All members are listed on the FPL website and detailed within the official FPL publication, FIXGlobal. FIXGlobal is distributed to approximately 7,000 market participants per quarter, in addition to all conferences that FPL participates in. As a member, your firm name will appear in the member's list, and you are welcome to contribute to the publication by submitting articles for editorial.

FPL members are granted discounted rates and the exclusive opportunity to sponsor or exhibit at FPL organised events prior to these opportunities being promoted to the wider community. FPL conferences have been recently scheduled in Cape Town, Mumbai, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai and New York.

FPL members are also able to participate in the opportunities raised at smaller events and the banner sponsorship opportunities available on the FPL website which are offered to bidding members each year.

Free FPL Job Posting Credits
The FPL organisation offers a job posting service which aims to provide an effective means of recruiting FIX trained professionals, to find out more about this facility please visit www.fixprotocol.org/jobs. Firms that are members of FPL are granted an allocation of free job posting credits per month.
