1 Introduction
The course is intended to give an introduction to FIX to general audiences; there is no assumption that the attendees have IT skills. It is ideal for organizations that are considering using FIX and for getting new team members up to speed with FIX.
This course is general in its nature to give participants a complete overview; however it can be customized to concentrate on specific areas on request.
We hold the course in London, Chicago and New York on the client’s site, and the cost for this one day course is 1000GBP/ 1800 USD. Other venues can be covered by special arrangement.
2 Session
We cover the main concepts behind the FIX Session:
• Message Delivery
• Session Protocol
• Administrative Messages
3 Application Messages
The course identifies the main classes of messages used:
• Pre-Trade
• Orders and Executions
• Post-Trade
And then looks at the Orders and Execution messages in more detail.
4 Asset classes
FIX is now used to trade different asset classes we look at how this works for:
• Stocks/Equities
• Futures and Options
• Fixed Income
• Foreign Exchange FX
5 Operations
We look at how FIX is implemented in a typical environment:
• Certification/Conformance Testing
• Networks (TNS, Radianz etc)
• Security
• Adapting to different flavors of FIX
6 Resources
There are a wide range of resources available to learn more these are identified.
