FAST Protocol Implementation

As a leader of the FPL Market Data Optimization Working Group, Jordan & Jordan worked to help develop the FAST protocol. FAST leverages implicit tagging, field encoding and serialization in order to radically reduce message size, bandwidth utilization and latency.

FAST is based on the concept of leveraging data affinities which allows greater speed and efficiency than conventional general compression utilities such as ZLIB and GZIP.

Implementing FAST requires both an understanding of the protocol and the needs of low latency environments. J&J offers:

  • Analysis and implementation of FAST for market data
  • Planning and analysis of FIX connectivity via FAST
  • Quality assurance and functional testing to ensure encoder/decoder compatibility
  • Performance testing and comparison to known benchmarks
