FIX 5.0 Specification Service Pack 1
FIX 5.0 Service Pack 1 includes 25 Extension Packs, each of which enhances the current functionality delivered by FIX 5.0. The Extension Packs were created as a result of FIX community market-driven initiatives that have undergone a thorough public review process led by the FPL Global Technical Committee. The Committee continues to improve the specification process to ensure that FPL meets its goal of delivering appropriate messaging standard solutions for the rapidly changing financial markets.
Major enhancements provided by FIX 5.0 Service Pack 1 include:
- Improved functionality for exchange quotation models and order routing practices
- Enhanced Listed Derivatives reference data support for Options, Futures, and Options on Futures
- New set of messages for Market Structure definition
- Support for trading listed Interest Rate Swaps
- Application level sequencing with advanced support for market data recovery
- Foreign Exchange OTC settlement obligations
- Improved integration between FIX, FIXML and FpML
- Changes to Rule80A, OrderCapacity, and Order Restrictions to reflect revised NYSE regulations
FIXT.1.1 ERRATA
Released simultaneously with FIX.5.0SP1 is an errata to the FIXT.1.1 Session Layer.
Enhancements in FIXT.1.1
- The use of encryption within FIX message themselves using SecureData(91) has been deprecated.
- User / Password enhancement for market place usage
- Addition of ApplExtID(1156) field omitted from first release of FIXT.1.1
- Improved documentation

Access to the Specification Documents
FIX Protocol Limited ("FPL") publishes the FIX
Protocol specifications in Microsoft Word (".doc" or "DOC")
and Portable Document Format (".pdf" or "PDF") formats.
Any registered user of the FPL website may access the PDF version. The Word
version is accessible by FPL members only. Registration is free. Site
users must be logged in to
access specifications in either format.
