Working Groups
This section contains information for each of the active FIX Working Groups; select a working group for more information. Please click here to view the FPL Membership Working Group Policy.
If Members participate in a FPL Committee or Working Group, any IP created or generated through such participation is created for the benefit of the Committee or Working Group, is created outside the general course of employment, and will vest in the Trust. Members will execute all documents and do all such acts as may be reasonably necessary to give effect to the terms of this clause, including after cessation of membership for any reason.
- Account Management Working Group
- The objective of the Account Management Working Group is to examine where a messaging standard will assist in the setup and maintenance of front office, and back office accounts and their interaction with clients, clearing firms, execution firms, the give up process, and exchanges.
- Allocations Working Group
- This working group is focused on improving the understanding and use of FIX post trade messaging.
- Certification Working Group
- This group supports the FPL Certification Program through development of test suites, assessment of certifiers, and serving in advisory capacity to Global, Fixed Income and Technical committees.
- Collective Investments Working Group
- This group has been set up to explore extending the FIX protocol to encompass the Collective Investment (Mutual Funds) business
- Derivatives Working Group

- Electrical Energy Pricing
- FPL has been asked to work with NAESB and OASIS in helping to define the pricing model (product reference) for energy pricing as a part of the Smart Grid initiative in the US.
- EMEA Fixed Income Working Group
- Encryption Working Group

- eSyndicate Working Group
- Defining how the FIX Protocol can be implemented and expanded to support the new issues business within debt capital markets.
- Exchanges / ECN Working Group

- FIA Extensions Working Group
- FIA Extensions to FIXML 4.4 to support post trade processing for listed derivatives.
- FISD FIX Data Model Working Group
- The joint working group was formed between FISD and FPL to create a data model for financial instruments that support the FIX Protocol.
- Fixed Income Working Group

- FIXML Schema Working Group
- Develop a FIXML Schema to represent FIX 4.4 in a format that takes advantage of XML Schema and optimizes message size.

- FIX Website Infrastructure Working Group
- Enhance the website to improve usability and to support new membership structure.
- Foreign Exchange Working Group

- FPL Conferences Working Group

- FPL-FpML Collaboration Working Group
- Joint working group with the ISDA / FpML FPL/FpML Collaboration Working Group. The goals for this group are to support interoperability between the FIX, FIXML, and FpML protocols.
- FPL Reorganization Working Group
- This Global Reorganization Working Group has been established in support of FPL's reorganization implementation.
- Futures and Options Working Group

- GDC Product Reference Working Group
- Purpose of this working group is to review and enhance security definition and status message category.
- Implementation and Optimization Working Group
- The purpose of this working group be to determine best practices and recommendations for FIX implementations.

- List Trading Working Group
- This group is working to improve the area of the protocol devoted to trading baskets, programs or lists of securities.
- Mutual Funds Working Group
- This group has been set up to explore extending the FIX protocol to encompass the Collective Investment (Mutual Funds) business.
- Retail Working Group
- This group will consider, document, and where needed recommend extensions to the FIX technical committee to support business between retail intermediaries firms and Institutions / Exchanges.

- Risk Technical Working Group
- The Risk Management Technical Working Group will work to resolve risk issues in electronic trading.
- Securities Lending and Borrowing Working Group
- The mandate of this working group is to create and manage the new SLB message architecture for the global Securities Lending and Borrowing initiative. This initiative covers the pre-trade, trade, post-trade and operational environment.

- Sponsored Access Working Group
- FPL Sponsored Access working group will develop and maintain a set of standardized best practice guidelines for sponsored access agreements.
- Web Services Working Group
- The Web Services Working Group (WSWG) is to evaluate the various internet solutions to reliable messaging transports that have come into existence during the 10 years since FIX came into existence.
